Houses for economically weaker sections in Haryana

Chandigarh, Jan 13 (UNI) Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has decided to spend Rs 750 crore for the construction of 20,660 Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) flats in ten districts of the state.

This was stated here today by the Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today, who is also the Chairman of HUDA.

He said that the proposal for the construction of such units in the districts of Faridabad, Gurgaon, Bahadurgarh, Rewari, Rohtak, Kaithal, Ambala, Hisar, Jind and Sirsa had been invited. The work for the construction of 2072 EWS units was already under progress at Panchkula at a cost of over Rs 50 crore.

He said that five per cent rebate would be given on the lumpsum payment of total cost of the plots offered by HUDA in various sectors.

Speaking on the occasion of 32nd foundation day of HUDA, the Chairman said that so far HUDA had offered more than 2,41,000 free hold residential plots, 20,000 commercial sites, 12,000 industrial plots in various urban estates besides 948 acres of land to the Cooperative Group Housing Society, Welfare Organisations and Urban Group Housing Schemes.

HUDA was actively engaged in the gigantic task of providing congenial living environment to the people and to meet the land requirement for varied human activities, he added.

On the occasion of the foundation day, a scheme of 3704 for residential plots for all categories at Bahadurgarh, Sirsa and Fatehabad has also been floated. The scheme would commence from January 18 and would close on March 18.

The allotment of plots under the scheme would be made through draw of lots. Reservation had also been made for various categories such as Haryana Government servants, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes, war widows and disabled, soldiers, other widows, freedom fighters and their children and grand children, defence personnel, para-military forces personnel, handicapped, dependents of officers and officials of Haryana Police killed in action.

However, the applicant under reserved category should be a domicile of Haryana. The facility of payment in easy installments would also be made.
