Muktsar, Jan 13 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today announced that water logging problems in the Malwa belt, especially in this district, would be solved within an year.

Addressing a conference on the auspicous occasion of Maghi, Mr Badal paid rich tributes to 40 Muktas (liberated ones) who sacrificed their lives for the cause of righteousness. He ked the people to follow the rich legacy of Sikhism by raising voice against the oppression and tyrincal forces.

Mr Badal said the state government had drawn up a comprehensive plan to eradicate the problem of water logging in a time-bound manner. He said engineers from the Irrigation Departrment and central agencies would jointly launch an operation to slove water logging problems that had resulted in substantial loss to property and crops in the region.

He said his government was fully aware the problems faced by the people, but as resources were limited all issues would be taken up step-by-step. He reiterated that the government would provide quality education to students and starting 100 Adarsh Schools at an investment of Rs 400 was a step in this direction.

''This revolutionary decision would impart quality education to at least one lakh rural students every year, enabling them to compete with urban students of convent and public schools,'' he said.
