Congress dissidents expecting CM's ouster soon
Imphal, Jan 13 (UNI) The Manipur Congress rebels, camping in New Delhi, since last two months demanding ouster of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, returned here expecting the Congress high command to take a decision in their favour soon.
Party sources said here today that the Chief Minister, who is also in the national capital, will return to the state soon as the Assembly session is scheduled to begin from February 1.
The Congress workers expected some changes in the state after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's return from China.
Twelve of the Congress MLAs, who returned here yesterday, commanded absolute majority with 31 members in the 60-member House and expected support from about 19 MLAs, including some ministers.
Party unit president Gaikhangam had also resigned from the Ibobi ministry earlier and demanded ouster of the Chief Minister.
However, Congress sources close to the Chief Minister, have revealed that no changes were expected as the budget session will start on February 1 and such decisions will destabilise the Congress-led Secular Progressive Front (SPF) government.
The CPI with four members and RJD with three members were also supporting the government.
