Bayana, Bharatpur, Jan 13 (UNI) Gujjar Arakshan Sangarsh Samiti convenor Col Kirori Singh Bainsla today rejected the proposal for reservation for Gujjars under a special category of 'nomadic and pastoral tribe' and called for blocade of the NH-11 on January 21.
The decision was announced at a Mahapanchayt of the Gujjars held at Bayana in Bharatpur. Col Bainsla said ''the Gujjars will not accept any thing less than inclusion of the community in the Sheduled Tribe'' He said Gujjars will start the next phase of agitation with a blockade of the Agra-Jaipur National Highway No- 11 on Janaury 21 at Maulani Bridge in Bharatpur district.
The Government had mooted a proposal for a four to six per cent reservation for the Gujjars under a special category of a ''Denotified Tribe'' at a meeting of the Gujjar leaders belonging to the BJP as their demand for ST status could not be fulfilled in the present situation. But the proposal was shot down by Baisnla.
The call for blockade of the NH-11 on January 21 coincides with the rebel Gujjar organisation Samyukt Gujjar Arakshan Sangarsh Samiti's 'mahapadav' (seige) in Jaipur.
