Hyderabad, Jan 12 (UNI) Angry over Congress Working Committee member Veerappa Moily's statement that the United Progressive Alliance Government was considering a second States Reorganisation Commission (SRC) for Telangana statehood, Telangana Rashtra Samiti(TRS) had decided to step up their stir for bifurcation of the State even as Congress leaders from the region were on the defensive.

For the second-day today, TRS activists organised protests in different parts of the region and burnt the effigy of the Congress party in Karimnagar, Warangal and Sangareddy.

TRS would hold 'Shankaravam', a political meet at Karimnagar on January 24 where earlier, Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, placed on record her recognition of the Telangana people sentiments for a separate State, TRS official spokesman Madhusudhanachari told UNI. TRS members would resign their seats, if the Centre went ahead and announced the Constitution of second SRC, he added.

Fearing that the TRS might get political advantage in the next Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections in the event of the UPA Government constituting second SRC, senior Congress leaders including M Satyanarayana, Palavai Govardhan Reddy, K R Amos and B Kamalakar Rao, would plead with the Congress High Command not to delay further, the formation of a separate State on the pretext of constituting the second SRC.

Congress Parliamentary Party Deputy Leader G Venkataswamy MP, said he would go to Delhi and put forth his views clearly. He would not hesitate to resign, if the situation warranted, he added.
