Itanagar, Jan 12 (UNI) Thailand Deputy Industries Minister Piyabutr Cholvijarn has stated that his maiden visit to North East India will result in exchange of cultural and trade links between boththe countries.
Official sources here today said an 18-member delegation led by Mr Cholvijarn on a two-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh interacted with the people of Tai Khampti community at the Buddhist Theraveda Temple here yesterday.
''It's great pleasure to be among fellow Thais in Arunachal, Mr Cholvijarn said adding that the Tai Khamptis and the people of Thailand had huge cultural similarities.
He also visited Chongkham, a popular Buddhist pilgrimage place in Lohit district.
''I am satisfied over the delegation's visit to the NE region,'' he said assuring that he would organise package tours from Thailand to Chongkham and Namsai area of the state to familiarize the Thais with their Indian counterparts.
