Una, Jan 12 (UNI) State BJP in-charge Satya Pal Jain today said the National party President will monitor annual performance of all BJP-ruled states.

Addressing mediapersons here today at Una, he said this will help to minimise the so called anti-incumbency factor.

Mr Jain said greater co-ordination between the party organisation and Legislators would be ensured and this will start with the State Executive Committee and BJP MLAs' meeting scheduled to be held in February this year.

He said collective leadership and unity within the ranks and file of the BJP were the major factors that led to the party's victory in the recently held Assembly elections.

Responding to a question, Mr Jain said the party had received complaints from about half a dozen constituencies where local BJP leaders had worked against the official party nominee during the elections. He said the complaints will be looked into and appropriate action would be taken.

The BJP state in-charge said, the Himachal Pradesh unit of the party had unanimously decided to support the candidature of former Chief Minister and former Union Minister Shanta Kumar as Rajya Sabha candidate from the state.

Reiterating that Kumar's name would be the only one to be sent to the National BJP leadership for approval, he clarified that he himself was nowhere in the race for the Rajya Sabha.

Mr Jain also clarified that Chief Parliamentary Secretaries or Parliamentary Secretaries would not be inducted since the party had opposed their existence even upto the apex court of the country.

He said, sitting MLAs would not be given the portfolios of Chairpersons of Boards or Corporations except where the constitutional provisions warrant that the post should to be held by an MLA.

Referring to Una district, Mr Jain said at least one ministerial berth would be allotted here during the next expansion. Mr Jain accompanied by BJP state media in-charge Rajinder Rana, district party General Secretary Capt Mangat Ram, Una Block party President Makhan Singh and district media cell in-charge Hari Om Bhanot.
