Jaya to visit MGR's residence on birth anniversary day

Chennai, Jan 12 (UNI) AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa would visit the Ramawaram Gardens on January 17, where her mentor and late Chief Minister M G Ramachandran lived, on the occasion of his 91st birth anniversary.

A party release here said Ms Jayalalithaa, as part of the birth anniversary celebrations, would hoist party flag and unveil a plaque at the entrance of Ramawaram Gardens.

She would later visit the Dr MGR deaf and dum school inside the Gardens and distribute prizes to the students in the sports meet, the release said.

Ms Jayalalithaa, after the death of MGR on December 24, 1987, had last visited Ramawaram Gardens to pay homage to Ms Janaki Ramachandran in June 1996. She would be visiting the Gardens after a gap of more than 10 years.

On the morning of January 17, Ms Jayalalithaa would garland the statue of MGR at the party headquarters and release the 91st MGR birthday souvenir and launch a free medical camp on the occasion, the release added.
