CPI(M) would resort to agitation against Modi on Jan 14
Chennai, Jan 12 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) today announced a black flag demonstration against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who is arriving here on January 14 to take part in a function.
Flaying AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa for giving a reception and hosting a lunch for Mr Modi, a party release here said this would pose a threat to the unity of the people of the state and to the concept of secularism.
The CPI(M) had no objection to Mr Modi visiting the city as the Chief Minister of a state or leader of a political party, but one should not forget the fact that a murder case was pending against him before the Supreme Court and he was charged of masterminding the killing of more than 2000 innocent people in Gujarat in the worst communal clash.
The party called upon the people to oppose Mr Modi's visit and the reception accorded to him by Ms Jayalalithaa. The black flag demonstration would be held in front of the Chennai District Collectorate, the release added.
