Kurnool, Jan 12: Police fired in the air to disperse two groups that clashed at Gudur in Kurnool district today.
District Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramanath told reporters that the clash erupted over 'differences' in the distribution of cement allocated for house construction, under the INDIRAMMA housing scheme in the village.
They pelted stones at each other and ransacked shops. Five people suffered minor injuries.
To quell the mob, police opened 10 rounds of fire in the air.
Personnel of Special Police Force and Armed Police were posted in the village.
