Bhopal, Jan 11 (UNI) CPI(M) Politburo member Brinda Karat today said her party would build pressure to bring up the Women's Reservation Bill in the next session of Parliament.
''It is not hidden from anyone that the Left parties played an important role to include this Bill in the agenda of the United Progressive Alliance Government,'' Ms Karat told a 'Meet the Press' programme organised at central press club here.
She said she expected UPA allies to come up with cooperative attitude towards the Bill.
''Previously, serious efforts to bring up the Bill had been made twice. However, the matter could not proceed further because of opposition by the RJD. Senior BJP leader L K Advani had also opposed rotation system,'' she said.
On whether male chauvinism was proving to be an obstacle for the Bill, she said reserving one-third seats for women would definitely hurt male mentality as male dominance would end in Parliament.
