Vishwa Bharati students allege inadequate security
Santiniketan, Jan 11 (UNI) The girl students of the Vishwa Bharati University (VBU) today alleged that adequate security measures had not been taken despite assurance by VBU Vice-Chancellor Rajat Kanta Ray, following Saswati Pal's murder inside the campus premises on January six.
The students lodged at the Mrinalini Girls' Hostel alleged that an unknown person had sneaked into the hostel late yesterday.
However, the miscreant managed to dodge the security personnel deployed in the hostel and fled after an alarm was raised, the girls added.
Meanwhile, VBU authorities said police forces had been deployed throughout the campus adding that the university security guards, along with the police personnel, would ensure the safety of the students.
The Vice-Chancellor said he had appointed a four-member committee, recommended by the university executive council, to probe into any security lapses on the part of the universty authorities.
