Bhubaneswar, Jan 11 (UNI) Bharatiya Janashakti Party president Uma Bharti today supported Leader of the Opposition L K Advani's proposal to confer the country's highest civilian award 'Bharat Ratna' on BJP patriarch Atal Bihari Vajpayee for his rich contribution to the Parliamentary democracy.
Ms Bharti told newspersons here that Mr Vajpayee was above party lines and deserved the highest civilian award.
She said if people like Rajiv Gandhi could get the award, why not Mr Vajpayee having an outstanding record of serving Parliament for long five decades.
The Bharatiya Janshakti Party supremo said the Hinduvta and Ram Setu should not be made an issue either before or after the election.
The political parties instead rake up the fundamental issues like poverty, unemployment and economic growth, which concerned the common people, she added.
She said she would like to have Ayodhya temple and Kasi Biswanath temple built but not as an issue to be used by the political parties during the elections.
