Vajpayee deserves 'Bharat Ratna' - Uma Bharati
Bhubaneswar, Jan 11 (UNI) Bharatiya Janashakti Party president Uma Bharati today supported Leader of Opposition L K Advani's proposal to confer the country's highest civilian award 'Bharat Ratna' on BJP patriarch Atal Bihari Vajpayee for his rich contribution to the Parliamentary democracy.
Ms Uma Bharati told newspersons here that Mr Vajpayee was above party lines and deserved the highest civilian award.
She said if person like Rajiv Gandhi could get the award, why not Mr Vajpayee having an outstanding record of serving Parliament for long five decades.
The Bharatiya Janashakti Party supremo said the Hinduvta and Ram Setu should not be made an issue either before or after the election.
The Political parties instead rake up the fundamental issues like poverty, unemployment and economic growth, which concerned the common people.
She said she would like to have Ayodhya temple and Kasi Biswanath temple built but not an issue to be used by the political parties during the elections.
