Hyderabad, Jan 11 (UNI) The Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) today organised 'rail and road roko' agitations at several places to protest the Centre's move to constitute a second State Reorganisation Commission (SRC) for the formation of separate Telangana and Vidarbha states.
TRS MLAs and MLCs, along with party workers staged a rasta roko in the city and burnt an effigy resembling the Congress party, demanding that the Centre withdraw its decision immediately.
Police arrested the protesters when they squatted on the roads at busy Abids and Basheerbagh.
In Warangal town, TRS district leaders and workers sat on the track at Kajipet railway station and obstructed the movement of trains for more than one hour. The New Delhi-bound AP Express was stopped at the station.
The party workers also obstructed road and rail traffic at Ramagundam in Karimnagar district for more than one hour, leading to delay in the running of several trains.
Mr Veerappa Moily, in-charge of Congress party affairs in Andhra Pradesh had recently announced that the Centre was contemplating to constitute the second SRC for Telangana state.
The TRS was opposing the Congress stand on separate Telangana and demanded that the Centre introduce a bill in Parliament to form Telangana.
