Bangalore, Jan 11 (UNI) Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur tonight said the state Government will announce a comprehensive pacakage for sugarcane growers in ten days.
Briefing newspersons after an executive committee meeting at the Raj Bhavan here, he said the problems faced by the sugarcane farmers would be resolved through coordinated efforts involving farmers and sugar mill owners.
He also stressed on the need for forming a committee to look into the issues faced by them.
''We want to ensure the sugarcane grown this year is crushed,'' he said.
Senior Advisor to Governor P P Prabhu said the meeting decided to provide an ex-gratia of Rs 600 per quintal for copra.
It was also decided to give upto 30 paise per kg for tomato if the minimum price crashed to less than Rs two a kg. The maximum coverage of area would be upto ten hectare per farmer and about ten tonne per hectare.
The government would seek a revival package from the Centre for the NGEF Factory.
Advisor P K H Tharakan said the government had decided to introduce e-stamping in several places in the city on a pilot basis to reduce corruption in a month.
