Harbhajan cannot make racial comments: Pawar

By Staff

Kolkata, Jan 11 (UNI) BCCI president Sharad Pawar today backed Harbhajan Singh stating that the player could never have made any racial comments to his Aussie counterpart Andrew Symonds.

''I have talked to Harbhajan and also with Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Saurav Ganguly, Anil Kumble and I am confident that Harbhajan could not have said anything that had a racial overtone.

He is not that kind of a player,'' Mr Pawar said on his arrival to the city, as in the capacity of Union Agriculture Minister for a Chamber of Commerce Programme.

He said that Arun Jaitley and Sashank Manohar were looking after the legal matters and was hopeful that Harbhajan's ban would be lifted after the hearing.

He said the BCCI and Cricket Australia share an excellent relationship and will continue to prosper, turning the Sydney fiasco to be a ''sad one''.

He also said the issue may not be discussed when ICC executive body meets in Dubai later this month.
