Bangalore, Jan 11(UNI) Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur today assured to come out with a solution to the demands made by sugar cane growers in the State with in one week.
Mr Thakur gave this assurance to a deleagation of farmers association which spearheaded agitation demanding increase in Minimum Support Price (MSP) and payment of arrears due from various Sugar Factories for the sugar cane purchased.
The Governor was stated to has said that he had held a meeting with Sugar factories recently and he would come out with solution within one week.
Earlier, thousands of sugar cane growers from various parts of the State took out procession from Central Railway Station to Raj Bhavan shouting slogans against the Government.
Farmer leaders Puttannaiah, Kodihalli Chandrasekhar and Kurabur Shanthakumar, who led the protesters, alleged that the government is keeping quiet despite huge arrears from Sugar factories to the cane growers are pending since last one year and this year the MSP fixed was lower.
