Panaji, Jan 11 (UNI) The state government has asked its Maharashtra counterpart to spare the services of its senior police officer Dr Paschricha after his retirement for improving the traffic system in this international tourist destination.

Intervening in the question hour, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat told the Legislative Assembly today that the police officer had improved the traffic in Mumbai exceedingly well and hence Goa government was thinking of utilising his services after his retirement.

Even as Goa had decided to observe this year as the year of road safety, the government would come out with a white paper on the traffic system with suggestions so that the members could also make suggestions to help reduce accidents.

The legislators earlier expressed their concern over the increasing traffic menace in Goa even as speaker Pratapsingh Rane pointed out that the latest small Nano car of Tatas would add to the congestion further.
