Fourth iGate Scrabble tourney begins in Bangalore
Bangalore, Jan 11(UNI) Three young boys aged under 15 years are participating in the three-day 4th iGATE International Scrabble Tournament which began at iGATE facility in Whitefield today.
The trio -- Purav Shah (11), Vyoma Shah(15) both from Mumbai and Mohsin Ahmed from Bangalore would now have the opportunity to play with top ranked player in the world, Ganesh Ashirvatham, and two of the top five World Scrabble Champions.
About 60 word experts from 12 countries are taking part in the three day tournament which has prize money of over Rs four lakhs.
Over 30 Indian players have qualified for this tournament coming through the grueling 'word war' fought in the qualifying rounds held in Mumbai, Goa, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore earlier.
iGATE Global Solutions, CEO, Phaneesh Murthy said, "This is the fourth year that iGATE is organising the International Scrabble Tournament. The growing interest in an intellectual family game pleases us immensely. We are promoting Scrabble as this mind sport fits well with our culture of nurturing and encouraging intellectual growth." The international scrabble tournament is organized by iGATE Global Solutions, the integrated technology and operations (iTOPS) company in association with the Karnataka State Scrabble Association (KSSA).
