Elephant killed by BDR personnel in Bangladesh
Coochbehar, Jan 11 (UNI) An elephant which went on a rampage early today was later shot dead by Bangladesh Rifles personnel.
District Magistrate Rajesh Sinha said the pachyderm from Jaldapara Elephant Sanctuary injured two persons and destroyed several houses in Chengrabandha area of the district before fleeing to Lalmonirhat area in Bangladesh by breaking the border fence.
Mr Sinha said he had spoken to Lalmonirhat DC Md Rafiq to collaborate efforts for its capture but since they failed to capture it, they decided to shoot it down.
