Belgaum,Karnkataka, Jan 11(UNI) Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Mallikarjuna Kharge today charged the BJP leaders in the state with making false poll promises to win the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Speaking at the 'Janandholana' campaign here, Mr Kharge charged the BJP with making false promises which could not be implemented, for coming to power.
Stating it failed to implement any promises it made during the last elections after coming to power, Mr Khagre said the BJP was now adopting the same tactics with an eye on winning the elections.
''The people of the state have seen the true colour of the BJP and will teach them a bitter lesson at the hustings,'' he said.
Accusing the BJP leaders of amassing wealth and being responsible for various scams during the 20-month tenure, he alleged the party was very much active in mudslinging their coalition partners.
Mr Kharge also alleged the BJP had managed to win more number of seats in the urban local body elections with the support of ill-gotten wealth amassed while in office.
Denying that BJP enjoyed public sympathy, Mr Kharge expressed confidence that Congress would return to power on its own strength after the elections.
