Chandigarh, Jan 11 (UNI) The Punjab government has issued directions to the state forest department to workout a comprehensive strategy for the proper maintainance of the 'Panj Piaras' park at Sri Anandpur Sahib.
These directions were issued by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal while presiding over a meeting of forest department officials here today.
The foundation stone of the park named after the 'Panj Piaras' (five beloved ones of the Guru) was laid in 1999 during the tricentenary celebrations of the 'Khalsa'. Since then not much development work has been done for the maintainance of the park.
At the meeting Mr Badal approved the Rs 28.33 lakh rehabilitation plan of the park prepared by the Forest Department.
This plan includes fencing the park, removal of deep rooted weeds, plantation of trees, installation of lights, construction of gates and iron railing.
The development works also include repair of the water fountains and laying of red stone besides payment of pending electricity bills.
