Three Bangladeshis were also among those killed. The incident occurred yesterday when the minibus carrying 12 workers of Asian origin collided with the overspeeding truck transporting iron bars.
The three Bangladeshis died on the spot while the two Indians succumbed to their injuries in a hospital. Surprisingly, the Indian driver of the minibus managed to escape with minor injuries.
The impact of the collision was such that it ripped open the sunroof and the doors of the minibus and it was found dangling on the iron bars. The remaining parts of the van were found strewn some metres away from the scene of the accident, Khaleej Times reported.
Police said the accident occurred in the early hours around 0400 hrs. The seriously injured were undergoing treatment at Al Qasimi and Al Kuwaiti hospitals.
