TN Govt responsible for Modi's security during visit: BJP
Chennai, Jan 10 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said it was the responsibility of the Tamil Nadu Government to provide necessary security to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Chennai on January 14 to participate in the anniversary celebrations of popular Tamil magazine 'Tughlak'.
Addressing a press conference at the party office 'Kamalalayam' here, party Tamil Nadu Secretary L Ganesan said the concern over security arose in the wake of the proposed protest by a political party against Mr Modi's visit.
''Mr Modi is a Chief Minister under Z category security. He has to be automatically extended necessary security by the Tamil Nadu Government,'' Mr Ganesan said, responding to a question.
Mr Ganesan said the onus of ensuring that Modi's visit passes off peacefully was on the DMK Government as the threat to disrupt his visit had come from one of its alliance partners.
To another question, he said Mr Modi was a nationalist and was fighting terrorism at a time when some leaders went ''soft'' on terrorism.
