Padmini scores easy win in u-13 Girls Chess National

Mumbai, Jan 10 (UNI) Top seed Padmini Rout (Orissa) celebrated her recently earned title of International Women Master by outplaying Panchalee Basu (WB) in the first round of Aditya Birla National U-13 Girls Chess Championship being played at Andheri Sports Complex here today.

The first day saw the seeded players score facile wins over their opponents with only forth seeded Rucha Pujari being stretched by Ananyashree Birla in Scandenevian Defence.

Local youngster Dhanashree Pandit held her teammate internationally rated Shweta Gole to a creditable draw. World Under 11 Bronze medalist Shalmali Gagare had an easy win over Sanjana Bhansali in English Opening.

Top three players from this championship will qualify for Asian and World U-14 Chess Championship to be held in Iran and Vietnam respectively.

The tournament, which has attracted as many as 102 entries, was inaugurated by five times national women champion Anupama Gokhale.

The results are as follows: Panchalee Basu lost to Padmini Rout Rucha Pujari beat Sanjana Bhansali Borzu Taronish lost to N L V Anusha Shikha Shah beat Chrisel Ann Pais Vrushali Deodhar lost to K Sainirupama UNI GS RN RKM AS2141
