Patna, Jan 10 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today directed state Human Resources Development Minister Brishen Patel to ensure continuation of the life sketches of socialist leaders Karpoori Thakur and Bhola Paswan Shastri in the curricula of middle schools.
Taking strong exceptions to the news items regarding exclusion of the life sketches of both the leaders and of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, published in the local dailies, Mr Kumar directed Mr Patel to initiate steps for inclusion of the life sketches of Karpoori Thakur and Bhola Paswan Shashtri.
''Contributions of both the leaders for uplift of the underprivileged in the society was significant and their life sketches should remain in syllabus of the schools,'' he observed.
Later, Mr Patel told newspersons that the government would ensure continuation of the life sketches of both the personalities in the curricula.
Earlier, the RJD had threatened to launch massive statewide agitation if the government failed to concede their demands for re-inclusion of the life sketches of both the socialist leaders in the school curricula.
