New Delhi, Jan 10: India will participate in the Expo World Exhibition to be held in Shanghai, China, from May 1 to October 31, 2010.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave approval for supporting the India Trade Promotion Council (ITPO) for meeting expenditure between 2007-2010 for organising India's participation in the Expo, Finance Minister P Chidambaram told newspersons after the CCEA meeting. The Expo would provide a forum to project the progress made by India in a variety of fields such as rural development, education, telecommunication, and science and technology, he said.
The world expo is held once in five years with specific themes in different cities.
The Shanghai Expo's theme is 'Better City, Better Life'.
