Family fights over conversion

Barwani, MP, Jan 10 (UNI) Police have been deployed in tribal-dominated Nani Barwani village in this district in view of an argument between members of a family over conversion.

A case was registered against four women of a community for beating up and another case was registered against nine people, including a priest, over conversion related matter.

''Members of a family had undergone conversion and were pressurising others to follow suit. However, other members wanted them to return to their own religion,'' said Superintendent of Police Praveen Kumar Mathur.

A case was registered against four women on the complaint of VHP's Jaikant Mahajan for allegedly beating him up and threatening him for getting police action against the family.

Besides, another case was registered against nine people, including priest Hate Singh and one women, on the complaint of a tribal woman, Bhuribai, for allegedly harassing her for undergoing conversion.

Meanwhile, prohibitory action had been taken against six people of one side and two people of another side of the family following incident of fire in Lallu's farm and police force was deployed as a precautionary measure.

Activists of Bajrang Dal, VHP and other Hindu outfits staged a demonstration before Barwani Kotwali over these developments and demanded arrest of culprits.
