Addressing a press conference after reviewing the welfare measures implemented by the various non-governmental organisations in this district yesterday, she said under this proposal, at least five such centres would be set up in different parts of Tamil Nadu with introduction of some innovative schemes for them.
She said they were also planning to provide counselling for school children, espcially adoloscents, to prevent them from committing suicide, following failure in examinations, eve-teasing and to create awareness among them.
The state owned Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) and the board will produce a documentary film on women and child development, and other related issues, she added.
She informed that the board was also negotiating with big companies in Chennai seeking their involvement in social welfare activities and work together for the same.
A campaign against female infanticide would also be launched in eight districts, including Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Salem soon, she said.
