Lahore, Jan 10 : Cricket legend Wasim Akram's Garden Town house was robbed of 1.5 million Rupees early on Wednesday by three unidentified robbers.

Three robbers broke into the house after climbing the back wall of the house at 3 a.m. At that time, Akram's mother, Irshad Kausar, was alone at home. Robbers held her at gunpoint and fled with 70 tolas of gold ornaments, 10 tolas of silver ornaments, Rupees 20,000 cash, a DVD player, a laptop computer and a mobile phone.

Akram's mother called up the Garden Town Police Station afterwards. The police reached the house within half an hour and registered a case against three unidentified robbers on basis of her complaint.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Ahmad Nawaz Cheema said that circumstantial evidence suggests that at least one of the robbers knew the house. He also said they suspect the role of one of the maids in the robbery. The maid had been working at the house for last one month and the other had joined afterwards.

Akram's aunt Rehana, said Kausar was alone at the time of robbery because the other members of the family were at another house in Model Town. Kausar said the robbers were wearing masks and she got very scared when one of the robbers held her at gunpoint.

Police said a robbery can be solved by two methods. One by showing the victim pictures of known robbers, but as the robbers were wearing masks, this rule does not apply here. The other one is by tracing the mobile, but the victim and her family don't know their phone's International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number.
