Mumbai, Jan 10 (UNI) The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has named six people, including two IPS officers, in its report in connection with the alleged involvement of police officers in framing a builder.
The report is likely to be submitted to the state government tomorrow. The CID has already prepared the report but, declined to divulge the names and other details.
On demand of the builder Rajendra Chaturvedi, Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil had handed over the case to CID and directed it to submit a report. Chaturvedi had alleged he was framed by the police at the behest of rival builder, Rashmikant Shah.
During investigation, the CID observed that Chaturvedi was framed in a pre-planned operation at the behest of Shah and under pressure from top officers.
On February 25 last year, four people -- Nisar Shaikh, Aslam Khan, Qasim Qureshi and Vijay Wadkar -- were arrested by the Juhu Police, who claimed that they were on their way to kill Rashmikant Shah, Proprietor of Vijay Group. A country made revolver and Rs 12.5 lakh were recovered from them.
Thereafter, on March 15 last year, Chaturvedi was arrested for plotting the murder of Shah to get hold of a redevelopment project at Abhyudaya Nagar in Kalachowkie in south-central Mumbai. He was behind bars for 41 days.
The CID had recorded the statements of more than 30 witnesses, including IPS officers, during the investigations.
