12-hour bandh affects life in Manipur
Imphal, Jan 10: Life was affected in Manipur today following a 12-hour bandh in protest against the proposed delimitation exercise in the state.
All inter-state bus services remained cancelled and the streets wore a deserted look as the Manipur Delimitation Watch-sponsored bandh registered total response. All educational and financial institutions and business establishments also remained closed.
Meanwhile, the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), United Naga Council (UNC), Kuki Students' Organisation General headquarters (KSO-GHQ) and All Naga Students' Association Manipur (ANSAM) called another 12-hour Manipur bandh on January 11.
KSO(GHQ) president P Simte and ANSAM president Paul Langhu stated that the bandh was called to demand the early execution of the delimitation exercise in the state and protest the cancellation of three subdivisions of Senapati district in the 2001 census report.
