UPA to decide shortly on second SRC
Hyderabad, Jan 9 (UNI) The Congress-led UPA government at the Centre will shortly take a decision on the issue of constituting Second States Reorganisation Commission (SRC) to look into the demand for the creation of new states, including Telangana and Vidarbha, Congress Working Committee member Veerappa Moily said today.
''External Affairs Minister and UPA Telangana Committee Chairman Pranab Mukherjee, whom I met last week, has given an indication to this effect,'' Mr Moily, who met Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy told reporters here.
''UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi has fully recovered and a decision on the issue will be taken soon,'' Mr Moily, in-charge of party affairs in Andhra Pradesh, said.
The Congress party had been maintaining that constitution of second SRC was the only way out to find a solution to the demand for formation of newer states in different parts of the country, including Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
