Council
(GDAC)
today
criticised
the
Congress-led
Meghalaya
Democratic
Alliance
government's
decision
to
hand
over
the
power
projects
to
six
private
companies
without
people's
consent.
The council comprising Federation of 25 Khasi States, Ka Dorbar Ki Doloi and Council of Nokmas met yesterday viewed with grave concern the manner in which the state government overlooked the concerned Dorbar Shnongs or Dorbar Himas before handing over of the power projects.
In a press statement issued here, the Council cautioned all concerned parties that land and water resources are specific conditions under the purview of the indigenous institutions laid down in the Instrument of Accession and the Annexed Agreement of December 15, 1947.
The council appealed to the people and government not to allow uranium mining at any cost for the sake of the future generation while calling all the national and state political parties, who are yet to come out with their respective manifestoes on uranium mining.
