Telangana state must to protect development of Andhra: Venkiah
Vijayawada, Jan 9 (UNI) Claiming that there was no need to set up a second States Reorganisation Committee(SRC) on the issue, Senior BJP leader Venkiah Naidu today said a separate Telangana state was inevitable as the region was being favoured in the allocation of projects affecting the development of Andhra region.
''Andhra Pradesh must be divided,'' he said, addressing a press conference here.
The BJP would support any Bill introduced in Parliament for the creation of separate Telangana state.
''The BJP would create awareness among the people of Telangana and the Andhra regions on the issue of creating a separate Telangana state,'' Mr Naidu added.
He alleged that the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) were ''cheating the people'' of Telangana on the issue of statehood for the region.
Mr Naidu charged that the state government was delaying action against those responsible for the attack on Bangladesh writer Taslima Nasreen, now staying in India, due to vote bank politics.
