TCS presents TCS-EW awards to 2 teachers
Chennai, Jan 9 (UNI) IT major TCS today presented the TCS-EW Teachers Awards to Meeta Tagoankar of Arya Vaidya Mandir, Mumbai and Babusaheb Shamrao Shinde of Saraswati High School, Chennai.
The Award, instituted in 2005 by TCS and Education World, an education news magazine, was part of the TCS' initiatives to reach out to thousands of urban and rural students across the country.
Presenting the awards to the winners, TCS Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director S Ramadorai said ''the Award is the TCS' way of recognising and promoting innovative teaching methods, which will nurture curiosity and creativity in young minds and prepare them for tomorrow's world.'' The national winners received a laptop each from TCS, while the six regional finalists received a cash award of Rs 10,000 each and certificates.
The Award was open to all primary and secondary school and junior college teachers.
Teachers, who exhibited innovative techniques, inspired students and aroused their curiosity were nominated by the principals, school boards and fellow teachers.
