STC employees to get performance-based incentive for Pongal

Chennai, Jan 9 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government today announced performance-based incentive to State Transport Corporation (STC) employees on the occasion of Pongal festival.

The incentive, paid every year, had been dispensed with for five years during the previous AIADMK regime and the DMK, after coming to power in May last year, revived the scheme.

For the second successive year, the government has decided to pay incentive to 1,10,264 transport corporation employees, amounting to about Rs seven crore, an official release here said.

Employees who worked for 91 days to 150 days during 2007 would get an incentive of Rs 85, while those who worked for 151 days to 200 days Rs 195 and those who worked for more than 200 days would receive Rs 625, the release said.

Chief Minister M Karunanidhi ordered that the incentive be paid to the employees tomorrow, it added.
