Shiv Sena flays BJP, Cong for politics over MCD demolition
New Delhi, Jan 9 (UNI) The Shiv Sena today lashed out at both the BJP and the Congress for indulging in ''mere posturing'' on the issue of demolition of fourth and fifth floors in Delhi houses.
In a statement here, Shiv Sena North India chief Jai Bhagwan Goyal asked the parties to stop ''scoring political points'' and make efforts to reach a ''humane'' solution on the issue.
''The ruling BJP in the MCD, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken are continuously making statements that the demolition of the floors will not take place...even as the drive is on as per court orders,'' he said.
Mr Goyal said the people of Delhi were being kept in the ''dark'' in this political fight over the issue. ''The political parties are misleading the people of Delhi. So far, the MCD or the Delhi government and the Centre have not pleaded for general amnesty in the court,'' he added.
The Shiv Sena leader alleged that the two parties -- the BJP and the Congress -- were indulging in issuing statements only to save their vote banks.
Mr Goyal claimed that the number of houses with fourth and fifth floors in Delhi stood at between 18,000 and 19,000.
''The residents of these houses are spending sleepless nights in this government's game,'' he added.
The Shiv Sena leader urged the political parties to rise above partisan interests and seek general amnesty for the residents on humanitarian grounds.
He said the new constructions in Delhi should conform to the Master Plan 2021.
