SAD organisational elections to be over by month end

Chandigarh, Jan 9 (UNI) The organisational elections of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will be completed by January 31, when delegates would elect the president of the party.

This announcement was made here today by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who is also the president of the SAD and acting president Sukhbir Singh Badal.

According to party's Secretary Dr Daljit Singh Cheema, SADl General Secretary Balwinder Singh Bhunder has been appointed the Chief Electoral Officer for these elections. Besides many other senior leaders of the party have been appointed election observers for different districts and other states.

The elections to all the circles and districts will be completed by January 20 and delegate session for the election of President would be held on January 31.

Education Minister Upinderjit Kaur will be election observer for Gurdas pur district while Cooperatives Minister Capt Kanwaljit Singh will be the observer for Amritsar (rural).

The other observers are Jalandhar Rural and Urban: Gurdev Singh Badal, Kapurthala: Dr Rattan Singh Ajnala, Hoshiarpur: MaheshInder Singh Grewal, Nawanshahar : Ajaib Singh Mukhmailpur, Ropar: Sucha Singh Langah, Ludhiana Rural and Urban: Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Patiala Rural and Urban: Bibi Jagir Kaur, Sangrur and Barnala: Sewa Singh Sekhwan, Bathinda and Muktsar: Ranjit Singh Brahampura, Ferozepur: Gulzar Singh Ranike, Moga: Ajit Singh Kohar, Faridkot: Prof Kirpal Singh Badungar, Mansa: Sarwan Singh Phillaur, Amritsar (Rural) Jathedar: Tota Singh, Fatehgarh Sahib: Surjit Singh Rakhra, Tarn Taran and Patti: Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra and Mohali and Chandigarh: Hira Singh Gabria.

In addition Secretary General of the party and MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa will be election observer for states of Delhi and Maharashtra while Sucha Singh Langah will be the observer for J&K and Himachal Pradesh. For all other states Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, MP has been appointed as election observer.

Mr Surjit Singh Rakhra, who is President of the NRI Wing of the party has been appointed election observer for other countries.
