Railway lines upto Ambassa in Tripura by January 26
Agartala, Jan 9 (UNI) Railway lines up to Ambassa, about 85 km from Agartala, would be laid by January 26, a six-member parliamentary team, led by Railway Convention Committee Chairman G N Ramchandran, assured Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.
Official sources said the team met Mr Sarkar today after reviewing the progress of the railway track-laying work between Kumarghat and Agartala and held discussions about the railway expansion work in the state.
Besides, top officials of the North East Frontier Railway, Parliamentarian Rasa Singh Routh, Raghunath Jha, Rajamohan Reddy, Madan Lal Sharma and Rajesh Sharma, led by Mr Ramchandran, visited the site yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister withdrew the demand for expansion of the railway network up to Sabroom, the southernmost point of the state, and committed to extend his support for the work as the committee assured to pursue it with the Railway Ministry.
