Kohima, Jan 09 (UNI) Nagaland Governor K Sankaranarayan reviewed the security scenario in the state with the top Army personnel and discussed about the issues for holding free and fair elections.
The high-level meeting, attended by all the important security personnel, including Lt Gen M S Dadwal, GOC, three Corps and Maj Gen K S Sethi, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North), was held here yesterday.
A Defence release issued here today stated that Gen Dadwal assured the Governor that security forces would cooperate fully with the civil administration to provide adequate safety to the people of the state.
A regular interaction between the security forces and civil administration would be carried out to ensure that prompt and effective assistance was available as and when required, Gen Dadwal added.
The release stated that the meeting also discussed the violation of the Ceasefire Ground Rules where the GOC, three Corps, emphasised the need for strategy to deal with such violations prior to and during the elections.
The strategy would include apprehending any persons moving with arms and ammunition or intimidating and harassing innocent people and subsequently initiating appropriate action.
