Korean pilots Bangalore Hi-Fliers to victory

Chandigarh, Jan 9 (UNI) A brilliant brace by speedy Korean forward You Hyo Sik paved the way for former champions Bangalore Hi-Fliers' creditable 4-2 verdict against title aspirants Chandigarh Dynamos in the second of the best-of-three finals in the IV Premier Hockey League at the floodlit Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here tonight.

With this verdict, the teams are tied at one-all as Chandigarh Dynamos had beaten Bangalore Hi-Fliers by 3-2 in the first semi-final on Monday.

Dangerous You Hyo Sik, who emerged as the most outstanding foreign player in this edition, produced two eye-pleasing field goals to change the complexion of the game. Bangalore Hi-Fliers were two goals down after Chandigarh Dynamos struck in the 10th minute through Olympian Deepak Thakur and captain Rajpal Singh in the 22nd minute.

However, Bangalore Hi-Fliers fought back with vengeance and scored their first goal in the 23rd minute when Sandeep Michael converted their third penalty corner. This success infused more life into the Hi-Fliers attack and the crafty Korean forward hogged the spotlight.

You Hyo Sik first levelled the score with a field goal three minutes before the half time. In the third quarter (42nd minute), the Hi-Fliers Korean import then made pumped in another field goal for a 3-2 lead.

The Korean richly deserved the Man of the Match award. Under pressure, Chandigarh Dynamos' goal fell again in the 61st minute with Sunil completing the winners' tally.
