Diaspora fight for Assamese language
Guwahati, Jan 09 (UNI) The Assamese diaspora has joined hands with All Assam Students Union (AASU) and Asom Unnati Sabha (AUS) to improve the culture, language and rural economy of the state.
Sources said here today that the Non Resident Assamese (NRAs) under the aeges of Friends of Assam and Seven Sisters (FASS), an NGO, will roll out various projects to develope the rural economy and spread the Assamese language with the help of IT enabled services.
The FASS and AASU team led by their respective advisers Rajen Barua and Samujjal Kr Bhattacharya would have their first international convention here in this regard, sources added.
The NRAs from the US, UK, China, Australia, Thailand, Austria and Singapore were working on a project to compile an online Assamese dictionary, flash cards as well as book translation projects.
