CRPF constable died, 23 injured in Kashmir
Srinagar Jan 9 (UNI) A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) head constable died while 23 persons, including six women and three children, were injured in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said.
They said head constable Narash Kumar of 54 battalion CRPF was found dead in his unit headquarter at Jawbara, Awantipora, in south Kashmir this morning.
The cause of the death was not immediately known, they said, adding police has initiated proceedings under section 174 CrPc.
A passenger Mohammad Maqbool Wagay was injured when he fell down from a vehicle at Brazloo, Kulgam while two persons, including a driver were injured when a load carrier, in which they were travelling turned turtle at Ajas.
Six passengers were injured in two similar accidents at Kanispora in Baramulla and Gusoo.
The sources said 14 persons were injured when a vehicle, in which they were travelling, skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Iqbal bridge. The injured included six women and three children.
All the injured have been admitted to different hospitals, they added.
