CPI(M) demands TN Govt to focus on SME sector
Madurai, Jan 9 (UNI) The 19th Tamil Nadu State CPI(M) Conference today passed a resolution, demanding that the state government's industrial policy should focus on promoting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Briefing newspersons about the resolution here, CPI(M) Central Committee Members T K Rangarajan and W R Varadharajan said the party would urge the state government to encourage agro-based industries and the industries that used locally available minerals and farm produce.
They said the party while strongly opposing allowing the private industries to exploit the natural minerals like Titanium, suggests the government to start an exploration unit on its own.
The state should find ways to develop industries without affecting the environment and the infrastructure development should be taken in all districts to enable the setting up of more industries.
Charging that the government had not made any fresh investment in the power sector, they said the government should initiate steps to transit natural gas available in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to Tuticorin to step up power generation.
