Two bogies of goods train derail at Ambala Cantt
Ambala, Jan 8 (UNI) Two bogies of a goods train were derailed leading to blockade of railway traffic at the Ambala Cantonment Railway station today.
Several express and passenger trains were held up and got behind their scheduled time.
The goods train, loaded with containers was on its way to Dhandari Kalan (Punjab) from Tughalkabad. On reaching Ambala Cantt,it passed through the railway yard where two bogies got derailed.
The bogies were dragged to some distance which damaged the sleepers on track. However, there was no loss of human life or property.
On receiving the information, a team of high officials reached the spot to assess the damage and also restore the traffic.
Station manager R N Meena said the cause of derailment was not known immediately. He said some of the derailed bogies were held up at the station. Over 300 sleepers were damaged in the accident. An enquiry had been ordered into the incident. He said the erring officials would be dealt with sternly according to rail manual, Mr Meena added.
The track was cleared and the derailed bogies were put on the line, a few days back, similar situation was created when the rail traffic was badly affected on derailment of an engine at the yard, he said.
