Modi calls on President; meets Gujarati NRIs
New Delhi, Jan 8 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today called on President Pratibha Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan and invited her to visit his state.
This was the first courtesy call meeting of Mr Modi after taking over as Chief Minister for the third consecutive term.
The meeting lasted about 15 minutes.
Earlier in the day, Mr Modi attended the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) where a number of NRIs greeted him for becoming Chief Minister of Gujarat in a landslide victory in the assembly elections.
He also inaugurated Gujarat Pavilion at Vigyan Bhavan, the venue of the sixth edition of PBD.
Mr Modi is slated to address a session tomorrow at PBD on 'Development Challenges of the States: Partnership Opportunities.' Meanwhile, Narendra Modi invited the NRIs to the four-day Kite Festival and World Family Festival in Gujarat from January 11 to 14.
Gujarat Pavilion depicts various schemes launched by Gujarat government to put the state on the road to growth.
