Lovelorn Indian commits suicide, father too drowns in rescue bid

Dubai, Jan 8 (UNI) A lovelorn Indian youth from Kerala committed suicide by drowning himself in the sea in Ras Al Khaimah and his father also met a watery grave in a bid to rescue his son.

The youth threw himself into the sea because his father would not allow him to be with his wife in Kerala.

Police recovered both bodies off the Khor Khowair area yesterday.

The newly married youth worked in a quarry, but feeling utterly lonely, he wanted to go to Kerala to be with his wife.

However, his 60-year-old father insisted he stay and work in the UAE and go home only on annual leave.

The youth started calling his wife incessantly, running up massive phone bills. This angered his father even more, the Gulf News said.

In despair, the youth committed suicide.
