Lokayukta nets three Govt officials for receiving bribe
Bangalore, Jan 8 (UNI) A Commercial Tax Inspector, a Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) and a GESCOM linesman were caught red-handed by Lokayukta sleuths while they were accepting bribe for showing official favours.
According to a Lokayukta release here today, Habeebulla Baig, Commercial Tax Inspector of Chikmagalur, had demanded Rs 15,000 as a bribe for certify a plastic shop. The official was caught red-handed by the Chikmagalur Lokayukta police while accepting the bribe.
In another trap, an MVI from Bellur, who had demanded Rs 5,000 from one Ramesh to value two vehicles. Later, the MVI agreed to receive Rs 4,500. The Mandya Lokayukta police arrested him for accepting the bribe.
In another trap, Devanna, a linesman of GESCOM at Raichur was booked for accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from Rangappa for erecting an electric poll and to give electricity connection to a pump house, the release said.
